Electrolux, AEG & Zanussi washing machine error E10
Your Electrolux, AEG or Zanussi washing machine (or washer dryer) stopped and shows E10, E11, C1, or gives one beep and one flash. Here is what the makers say it means and the order to check things in.
Water supply problem: the machine is not filling, filling too slowly, or (with E11/C1) not draining correctly.
What E10 means on Electrolux, AEG & Zanussi
Electrolux, AEG and Zanussi share one family of electronics, and their support pages group E10 with E11, C1 and "1 beep / 1 flash". All of them mean the washer is having trouble filling with water or draining correctly. In practice E10 is almost always the fill side: the tap, the inlet hose, the small inlet filter or low water pressure.
Step-by-step fix
Open the tap fully
Turn the cold supply tap fully on. If you have a separate hot-fill hose, check that tap too.
Test the water flow
Fill a bucket from the same tap: Electrolux says about 10 litres should take roughly one minute. Much slower means low pressure or a blocked supply, not a washer fault.
Clean the inlet filters
Turn the tap off, unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the machine and clean the small mesh filter in the hose end and in the valve inlet. Refit the hose straight, without twists.
Straighten both hoses
Pull the machine out gently and check that the inlet and drain hoses are not kinked or squashed against the wall. Replace any damaged hose.
Check the drain hose position
The hose should go no more than 10 cm into the drain pipe, with the drain height between 60 and 100 cm. Too deep or too low lets water siphon away while filling.
Clean the pump filter
If water is left in the drum (a draining problem), open the small front panel, drain the water into a tray and clear the pump filter. Check the impeller turns freely.
Reset
Unplug the machine for at least 30 seconds, plug it back in and start the programme again.

If no water enters at all with the tap open, or the code comes straight back, the inlet valve, pump or level sensor may have failed. Book an authorised service engineer.
Common causes
- Water tap closed or only partly open
- Low mains water pressure
- Blocked mesh filter in the inlet hose or inlet valve
- Kinked, twisted or trapped inlet hose behind the machine
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe or at the wrong height (causes siphoning and refilling)
- Faulty inlet valve or pump (engineer job)
How to prevent it
- Leave the supply tap fully open
- Keep the inlet hose straight, without kinks or twists
- Do not overdose detergent (Electrolux lists it among the checks)
- Keep the drain hose no more than 10 cm into the drain pipe
Tools & parts you may need
- Bucket or shallow tray and towels
- Pliers (for a tight hose nut)
- Old toothbrush for the mesh filter
- Replacement inlet hose (if damaged)

FAQ
Is E10 the same as E11 on my Electrolux washer?
Electrolux, AEG and Zanussi list them together as water supply/fill codes, so the checks are the same: tap, pressure, inlet filters and hoses.
Can I keep using the machine?
Yes, once it fills normally. If the code returns on every wash, stop and book a technician, as the inlet valve may be failing.
Does my washer dryer use the same code?
Yes. AEG and Zanussi publish the same E10 / C1 / 1 beep / 1 flash guidance for their washer dryers.
